Does this mean God doesn’t care about a believer’s sin? Absolutely not. That would be unbiblical, as well as wrongheaded. As Christians, sin doesn’t touch our standing before God, but it can definitely affect our experience of God. When I lied to my dad as a kid, he didn’t stop being my father. But it sure did affect our relationship. My experience of his affection changed. His love was expressed in another way, a more painful way.
