Faith starts with God and fixes on God. That’s why Hebrews 6:1 calls it “faith toward God.” Faith comes from God and is quickened in us because of Christ’s death for us. I know, there’s plenty of “faith” teaching going around that instructs people to believe that faith generates its own creative power. But that leads us inward and selfward, not upward and Godward. Our faith doesn’t create prosperity, healings, and breakthroughs. Our faith focuses fervently on God. Biblical faith confidently—even ambitiously—asks God to act according to his promises.
