“This way, wherever you go, you’ll always have my heart with you,” I said, kissing her on the cheek. It was the cheesiest thing I’d ever said, but that was what she’d done to me. I was now an idiot in love.
I guessed that was love, a roller coaster of crisscrossing emotions and feelings. One minute, you’re up, and the next, you’re on the ground, and you don’t even know how you got there.
The fragrance of his body invaded my senses. The warmth of his fingers on my cheeks made the ache in my heart diminish slightly because even if what I was feeling was his fault, he was also the only one who could make it disappear. I took a deep breath and, hesitantly, held him back. “Loving you is the most complicated thing I’ve ever done,” I said.
There’s nothing like trusting a person fully, showing them all your insecurities, seeing that
they don’t only accept them—they adore them.
“When you’re tied too tightly to someone…it hurts when you break free, but it’s either that or you’re trapped forever. And I’m one of those who’s trapped forever.”
This supposed punishment soon turned into a love letter composed on his skin…one I had written to him. He stared at my face the whole time while his fingers traced circles on my skin and I worked to make that decoration on his sculpted body as beautiful as possible. I wanted to show him how much I loved him, I wanted him to understand that he was the only one for me. That ink was covering our pain, drawing a new bond between us. With a smile, I grabbed his wrist and wrote one last message on it: You’re mine. Forever.
I’m not going anywhere. My life and my future are with you. My happiness depends on you alone…
