Medgar attended Kennard’s trial and reported to the national office about the charade he observed. Evers also released a statement to the United Press International and the Associated Press, calling what happened to the thirty-three-year-old veteran—just two years younger than Medgar—“the greatest mockery to Judicial Justice.”
