Aphrodite goes on to share the salutary story of Eos – Dawn – who falls for a mortal man named Tithonus and asks for him to be granted eternal life. Sadly, she forgets to ask for eternal youth, so poor Tithonus gets older and smaller and more crunchy until he eventually becomes a cicada.
