“I like the way my name sounds rolling off your tongue, but you know what I really want to hear, love?” She looked up at me as I pulled the straps of her dress down her arms. “What’s that?” “I want to hear you screaming it instead.”
Mischief danced in Nico’s dark eyes. “Hey, Harper.”
Nico Don’t fuck with me, pretty girl. You know exactly who this is.
“I like how you look when you blush, knowing I’m the one who put that color in your cheeks.”
“I wasn’t done with you that night and I’m not done with you now.”
“I think I found my good luck charm for the season and I’m not giving that up.”
“Don’t lie to me, pretty girl,”
“Don’t be embarrassed,” he whispered. “I like you jealous.”
“Tell me about you, Harper. What makes you smile. What pisses you off.”
“I want to know how to keep that beautiful smile on your lips. I want to know what to avoid so I don’t ever piss you off… unless I’m intentionally trying to.”
His lips twitched. “If you’re going to lie to me, love, at least make it believable.”
“You’re a terrible liar, Harper,” Nico growled
“What do I have to do for you to reward me?” His lips curled upward. “Tell me the truth or convince me otherwise.”
“Not what I’m hungry for, love,”
“Be a good girl and lay back for me so I can eat.”
“Not your god, love. He can only take you to heaven. Where I’m taking you is a place he could never take you.”
“Let me ruin you, love,” I murmured
“You’ve been avoiding me, love,” he said, his voice low yet soft. “I think I have an idea why, but I want to hear it from you.”
“I would never be your rebound, love,” he said as his eyes stared directly into mine. “There wouldn’t be anyone after me.”
“That’s right, baby. No one but you.
She would eventually realize that there would never be anyone but her. She was it for me.
“I can’t get enough of you, Harper Jensen. I need you to know, there’s no one but you.”
I couldn’t fight the smile that consumed me. “And why is that?” “Because you’re mine and no one else’s.”
Harper Jensen scared the living shit out of me… because I was fairly certain I was falling in love with her.
“I wanted to surprise you and let you know how proud I am of you.”
“To you, my love,” I said with a smile as I stared into her bright blue eyes. “The sky is the limit for you and your dreams. I can’t wait to see where this will take you and I’m so proud of you for trying something you’ve always wanted to do.”
“I’m not here for anything but to be close to you. I need to feel you in my arms tonight.”
His lips were soft as he pressed them against mine. “Come on, love. Let’s get whatever it is you need.”
“I’m in love with you, Harper,” he said slowly as he exhaled. “You’re all I think about, day and night. You’re the only person I want to spend my time with. I tried to fight it, but I can’t anymore. I can’t keep up this charade. I love you.”
“I can’t promise you all of my firsts, but I can promise you every single one of my lasts.”
“Fuck,” I murmured against her lips as I slowed our kiss. “There’s something about seeing you wearing my jersey that drives me fucking crazy. I want to see you wearing nothing but my jersey.”
“I will gladly meet you in the penalty box any day.”
