I hated her ex-boyfriend. I hated any man who had gotten to experience her before I had. Decided I’d kill them all.
And I didn’t try to stop him. I didn’t fight him. I came on his gun like some twisted whore with a death wish.
“Was that a yes?” “Yes, little lamb, I’ll order your filthy books.”
Absence. Absence of hope, absence of desire, the absence of him. My lips twisted as the pain came, but I’d grown used to it now; That hollow ache in my chest every time I thought of him.
