“Enough of…of this, vaerina. Open the door.” “No.” Something scraped against the other side of the door. His claws? “I prepared food for you. A gourmet meal. Come and eat with me, Avery.” “I’m not hungry, and I’m still mad at you.” At least one of those statements was a lie. “You haven’t had anything since this morning. You can be mad at me while you eat, just open the door and come downstairs.” There was a pause. “Please.” Avery’s lips twitched into a smile. She couldn’t help but compare this to the scene from Beauty and the Beast when Belle refused to join the Beast for dinner.
Fyran would protect Avery. He would provide for her. He would give her all she wanted, all she needed, all of himself. And he would plant his seed in her. He would father her child, and together they would make a family. The family neither of them had ever had. He would fucking make sure of it.
But those marks had also instilled him with a degree of pride, because they were just more evidence that she was his—and that she’d been well-loved.
