“I’m not going anywhere,” he says, and my head whips around to look at him. “I’m here with you. You are here with me. I finally have you in my life. I finally feel.” He shakes his head. “I’m fucking happy. I might have to take business trips a couple of times a month, but this is my home.” He looks into my eyes. “This is our home.”

“I can’t afford this,” she whines as if I stabbed her, “this is too much.” “Baby,” I say softly. “You raised our daughter for four years without a penny. Trust me, I owe you a lot more than a trip.” I lean forward, the need to kiss her stronger than anything I’ve felt. “But work,” she finally huffs, putting a hand on her forehead. “Taken care of.” My hands fall from her face. “Let me give you this.”

I roll my eyes at his last remark. “Addison, I’m in love with you,” he declares, his voice soft and quiet, which makes my heart literally skip a beat. “Like, so in love with you.” I blink away the tears. “And it has nothing to do with Avery. It has to do with when you hold my hand, I feel a sense of peace. It has to do with when you kiss me, my heart speeds up. It has to do with when you smile at me, I feel like I could take on the world with just you by my side.”
