“If God wanted man to become a spacefaring species, He would have given man a Moon.”
We’ve seen repeated claims that an advantage of space stations will be the ability to completely control things like temperature, light, and weather. This sounds compelling until you realize it’s also a thing that happens in, like, buildings.
With this in mind, one design expert proposed something resembling cloaks over the space suits. Cheap, simple, and everyone looks like a Jedi.
“The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn’t have a space program. And if we become extinct because we don’t have a space program, it’ll serve us right!”
Our ability to harm ourselves vastly outweighs our ability to protect ourselves.
