At some point in his career, Jonah figured out that women thrive with affection and men thrive with pressure, and he started employing it.
“And no worries. I popped in on you without warning and demanded your company at dinner. I’m pretty sure you could have made me wait all night if you wanted to without any foul play.” “But then we’d miss dinner.” Chase shrugs. “There’s always breakfast.” Okay, jeez. That’s a good-ass line if I’ve ever heard one.
“Yeah, well, this is the part they don’t talk about, babe. Dream-achieving is scary. It’s grand and unexplored, and it’s been a figment of your imagination for just a little too long to seem real. Everything you’ve ever wanted is coming true. Just enjoy it.”

A shiver runs down my spine as I remember the video I saw on the internet about spirit guides. The lady talking about them was showing a picture of herself on her first day of college, with her now-fiancé completely unaware in the background. She said the spirit guides try our whole lives to bring us together with the people who are important, and little Easter eggs like that picture are their way of making a cute joke.
Men look twice when Caroline is in the room. And you don’t look away when Brooke enters a room.
