“She’s coming to stay with me, and I don’t want to hear a goddamn word about it,” I tell them. Cam looks to Laiken for her approval, and he gets it when she nods. I step closer to her and put my hands on her cheeks, lifting her head so I can get a good look at the wound. The paramedics already cleaned it up but it still looks pretty bad. Which means I can only imagine what it looked like before. “Are you okay?” She stares up at me. “I don’t know.”
