Recognizing the centrality of the Church doesn't mean spending more time at the local church (it might mean less). It means that we view the world through medieval eyes-a world where the church spire, not city hall, is the most prominent point on the landscape.
Our choice is not between science and poetry, but rather between good poetry and bad poetry.
When Man as Priest/Scientist speaks-whether about the health dangers of margarine or the internal temperature of supernovas does not matter-he likes to speak ex cathedra.
A great need exists for Christians to begin to think through the ramifications of their faith in both a systematic and practical way. We must put off childish things and think like men. Christianity is a serious and demanding religion, and this includes the intellectual ramifications of that faith.
