In these three cases Irish people had been jailed for lengthy terms, sometimes for life, in connection with bombings in England during the 1970s. In each case Britain resisted Dublin’s arguments that miscarriages of justice had taken place. It was not until the 1990s that all the sentences were quashed, proving Dublin’s point.
