“I missed you, giant.” I blink, taken aback. “Me?” A smile blooms across her pink lips. “Where have you been?” “Hiding, obviously.” “You’re too big and fat to hide from me!”
To my shock, he stretches out to lie down in the grass next to me. Arianna wastes no time adorning him with his own tiny daisy crown. Killian grumbles a complaint but doesn’t stop her from dressing him in flowers. “Now we match,” I whisper to him. “If anyone sees me in this shit, my reputation is ruined.” “You’re the one that laid down. Suck it up.”
“Missed you too, Ari. Go and attack Killian now. Make sure to smother him in kisses.”
Killian loves shooting zombies when he runs out of wooden logs to smash to pieces.
Wringing his hands together, Micah walks over to her and picks up the small sculpture. He grabs a pen and scribbles something on the bottom of it before kneeling down next to Arianna. “Keep her safe for me, will you?” “Really? For me?” Arianna blusters. “Butterflies don’t belong locked up inside.”
“What?” He glares back at him. “Your scrawny little ass won’t do shit if you run into trouble. I’ll bring my rifle along and knock any creepers out.” “Creepers?” I exclaim. “He means men,” Zach clarifies with a short laugh. “You belong to the valley now. We protect what’s ours. Better get used to this possessive fucker following you around with his gun from now on.” Killian looks thrilled at the prospect, cracking his knuckles in anticipation. “It’s been a while since I had a good hunt.”
His familiar musky scent clings to his shirt. He smells so good, like raw bonfire embers and the freshness of pine trees blended into an intoxicating fragrance.
“I thought I had to protect Briar Valley from you,” Killian murmurs, wetting his bottom lip with his tongue. “But I forgot to protect myself.”
Finding Killian standing at the checkout counter, I catch him shoving a giant stuffed elephant into a plastic bag. He clears his throat when he sees me, caught red-handed. “There’s a new family coming. They have nothing.”
I tried to paint her last week, but I couldn’t do it. Her tentative smiles and glimmers of hopeful optimism can’t be reduced to paint on a canvas, no matter how much I want to immortalise my memory of her for when she disappears.
With my head buried in her throat, I take a deep inhale, smiling to myself. Somewhere inside of me, a switch is flipped. She smells like home. I’d forgotten what it felt like.
“Perhaps you want me to trace every single inch of your body with my tongue, or for me to taste how wet your pussy is in this moment.” “Zach,” I gasp, embarrassed. “What?” he counters. “Don’t deny it. I can see your legs pressing together. Does it hurt, beautiful girl? Is your cunt soaking wet and begging for me to touch it?”
“Well, that simply won’t do. I’m dying to watch you fall apart with my tongue buried inside you. Come and ride my face.” “You want me to do what?” Zach snickers. “There’s that blush again. Come on, babe. Bring your cunt to me.”
“You taste like fucking heaven.” He comes up for air. “More, babe. I want you to fuck yourself against my face. You can do it.”
“Now I’m back in the lead.” “What?” I groan. His chest vibrates with a chuckle. “Micah isn’t the best twin after all. I’ll happily beat him again by making you come all fucking day long.” “Zach! This isn’t a competition.” “Of course, it is. One that I intend to win.”
Finding Willow and making sure she’s okay is my priority, then I can interrogate her until I find out who I need to skin alive and bury in my fucking vegetable patch. Either way, someone’s going to pay for hurting her.
Let me hold you. When you wake up screaming, I’ll be there. I’ll fight your demons for as long as you need me to.” “Do you promise?” Willow whimpers. “I swear on my fucking life. No one will ever hurt you again.”
Blinking the haze of anger from his eyes, he blows out a breath. “Keep your eyes on me at all times. You’re not allowed to think about anything else. Am I clear?” There it is again—that hot dominance. I love it.
Killian peppers kisses along my jawline. “You belong to me now. I’m the only man you’re allowed to think of when I’m buried in your cunt.”
My gasping moans echo around the room as he pounds into me. I doubt there’s anyone in the house who can’t hear the chaos we’re causing. I need him to fuck me to death and leave no space for the demons of my past. “Take it,” he grunts.
Zach props his shoulder against the door frame. “I can practically smell you in the air. I was hoping you’d end up in my bed first, not this caveman’s. I’m a team player though.” “Huh?” I stare at him. “You heard me, babe.”
“You’re human,” he whispers. “Being human doesn’t make sense.” “What do you mean?” “We mourn things that don’t exist and chase dreams that will never materialise. We cry when we’re happy and laugh when we’re sad. Our whole existence is imperfect.”
Micah kisses me again, harder this time, imbued with never-ending ribbons of pain and blossoming wildflowers of hope. It all folds into a pure, untainted moment as we exchange souls.
