Upon this most recent reading, I am in love with the idea of God as Change. Change is indeed the most constant force in our universe; nothing in this realm is immune to its impact or influence.
“When stuck, take the step that is in front of you.” I tell them, “Don’t worry about that next step. If you take the step that’s right in front of you, the next step will reveal itself!”
Through Earthseed, they—and in turn we—are offered the benediction of hope. The hope that through the virtue of resilience and principled action, there just might be redemption for our sins against humanity for us all.

All that you touch, You Change. All that you Change, Changes you. The only lasting truth Is Change. God Is Change.
“When it comes to strangers with guns,” I told her, “I think suspicion is more likely to keep you alive than trust.”
She wants a future she can understand and depend on—a future that looks a lot like her parents’ present. I don’t think that’s possible. Things are changing too much, too fast. Who can fight God?
