“I am Theon St. Orcas, Heir to the Arius Kingdom. You are Tessalyn Ausra. I have Selected you to be my Source. You obey me above all others. My desires are your desires. You are mine.”
“Oh, and so we are clear, the next time she fails to kneel when it is expected, she will be kneeling in front of me for a different reason, and you can watch as a reminder for you both.” His eyes went to Eviana. “Keep him bound for the next half hour, then come find me. All this talk of being on knees finds me wanting you on yours.”
A thumb brushed along his bottom lip as she leaned in once more to whisper, “When you take her, you will want to believe that she loves you too.”
“Tessa, I see your mood has improved from unruly to bratty,” Luka said in greeting.
“Can you pretend, just for the night, that you want this? And after dinner, we can come right back here and pick up where we left off?”
Theon stepped in front of her, sliding a hand to her cheek. “Eyes on me tonight, yes?” “Yes,” she answered quietly.
“If I have to chase you down while naked, I cannot be held entirely responsible for what will happen when I catch you.”
“Do you think I’m not trying?” she asked, her voice cracking the slightest amount, but he heard it. “Do you think I do not recognize how much simpler things could be? Do you think I enjoy the agony that comes from not fully submitting to this?”
“The wild and untamed answered her call as well.”
“You will break, Tessalyn. Make sure you get back up and take what is yours.”
“I want to hunt down Pavil and Metias and peel the flesh from their bones, then make them eat every piece of it,” he murmured against her skin. “Then I want to break each bone in their body in multiple places before taking them up the mountain and leaving them there for the beasts of the woods to pick off piece by piece.” Tessa sucked in a breath at the violence he was describing. “No one touches what is mine,” he snarled, his lips brushing her throat as he spoke. “I said I would take care of you, Tessa, and I know what you need. You need to accept this bond.”
“Because she is strong, my Lord. She is undeniably powerful. Whatever element she emerges with, she will, without a doubt, be the most powerful Fae with that element.”
When the server turned to Tessa, she glanced at Theon. “I would love a glass of wine tonight,” she said tentatively. “I do not think that would be wise. Not after the day you have had,” Theon answered, returning his attention to his menu. “Water please,” she replied tightly to the server, who nodded and left to get their drinks.
“Luka can shift into a dragon, baby doll.”
“It’s something you can’t learn until you’re forced to walk through it, but you’d know that strength grows in the moments you think you can’t go on, but you do anyway. Strength is fighting back. Strength is doing whatever it takes to claim what is yours, even if others try to convince you it is not yours to take.”
“My life is one big regret. Why would this be any different?”
“Stop looking at me like that.” “I don’t know any other way to look at you.” “Whatever,”
“I will have very little insight,” she continued as though he hadn’t spoken. “I was a social pariah. No one wanted to be around me as I— How did you put it? Only seem to create chaos wherever I go. Which was fine, I suppose. There’s only room for one in small spaces. Otherwise it gets too crowded.”
Control the uncontrollable; Or to fury they both lose. Life must give; And Death must take. But Fate requires more.
Until then, remember salvation or destruction, the choice is yours. Just make sure you get back up.
