He’s a professional killer, right? Maybe he’ll murder me now if I ask very nicely.
He never wanted to encourage any of his workers to be relaxed enough in his presence to sit. But it was practical to have them now that he had a right hand to brief daily. It had nothing to do with wanting her to be comfortable. Nothing at all.
Evie realized there was not a single person in this room she could trust. Well, save for The Villain himself, and oh the irony in that.
“Of course,” she said, her voice surprisingly steady. Sighing a ragged breath tinged in annoyance, she said to only herself: “Of course it’s a bomb.”
“Fluffy? You looked at me and thought to yourself, He looks like a Fluffy?”
It hurt me. He wondered if it would scar her for life if he threw himself from the window.
“Do not mistake me. When I say vengeful, I mean it in the most extreme sense of the word. If a female guvre believes her mate is in danger, there are no bars in this world that could hold her.”
Adulthood should be illegal.
It was the last thing she saw before she settled her lips onto his.
He was a good kisser, but of course he was. Attractive murderers were always good kissers; she was pretty sure she’d heard that expression before.
