What then?” Quicker than she could stop me—I let go of her, collected a discarded fragment of the broken mirrored glass, and brought it to my heart. Her fingers dug into me. One hand on my shoulder, the other on my wrist, stopping me from pushing the glass through my heart. “No hesitation,” I said, holding her gaze as I pushed the point into my skin, forcing a drip of crimson blood to well at the surface. If my life had to end here to extend hers, I’d do it. No problem.
