Raven loses her shit and wreaks havoc on the black castle as she’s hunting for Bastian.
“One day in and you've discovered how to be a dick in a different form. That has to be some kind of record.” “It's a skill.”
“Oh, hey. Glad to see the smart ass came back from the afterlife as well as the asshole,” Grey answered, finally looking at me. “They only let me pick two attributes. I felt like those were key.”
“They only let me pick two attributes. I felt like those were key.”
“You're going to be such a joy on this journey,” he said. “I've been a joy my whole fucking life. I don't see a need to change now.”
“Kirsi, for the love of all things holy, if you don’t stop flicking my ear, I’m going to send you back to the afterlife myself.”
“That’s the last apology you get, Moonstone. Put some fire back into those veins. Ignite the world if you must, but stop cowering. You are not weak. You are not broken. You are not a victim. You’re the most powerful witch of our generation, and it’s time to start acting like it.”
The weapon is not to blame for the action of the wielder. I don’t think he would have blamed you. But if you let those thoughts fester, every memory you had with him will turn sour. You’ll never trust yourself.”
Something fun is about to happen.”
“There’s no magic here. The panic attacks, the headache earlier, the bloody nose now… I don’t think you’re supposed to be in the human lands, Raven.”
“I always get stress nosebleeds. How ‘bout you, Grey?” “At least once a day.”
“If I knew how to fuck with a wraith, I’d do it right now.”
“You can throat punch people now and not even have to show yourself.”
“I have to let him go,” I whispered. “But I don’t think my heart is ready.” “You have a lifetime to let him go. You can hold on a little longer.”
“Raven,” he yelled from behind me. “There’s nowhere you can run that I will not find you. I will chase you all over this world if I have to.”
I left everything behind, left the world to burn to the fucking ground, just to be with you.
“I hate you, but I’ve missed you.”
“You could have been a million things. And every time I let myself believe that you were truly who you’d shown yourself to be, my mind would rebel. Because how could you be so perfect in the midst of all this chaos? How could you want me? How could I deserve you?” His hands gripped my waist, and I didn’t not stop him as he lifted me.
“A little closer, Atty. You haven’t quite taken my virginity yet,”
“I wonder if there is anything he would not do for you. Your Dark King might be fearful, but he is equally fearless. He sent you to the land with no magic, not to save himself, as he would let everyone believe, but to save you. He feared what the others would do to you should he die. He never planned on joining you. Hadn't even thought about it. He simply accepted his death and cast to protect you.” Her pause was infinite and nothing at all. “He is worthy, if not broken. Though the broken things we keep tend to be the most extraordinary, do they not?”
“I've never known you to do anything lightly. You wreck worlds with mere thoughts and call down goddesses with sheer intention. You're unlike anything this world has ever known.”
“Don’t mistake my silence for sadness, Little Witch. It’s simply the foundation of my revenge.”
“Someone pulls a weapon on you, you don’t stop to ask questions. You fucking defend yourself. And you never, ever apologize for being the most powerful witch around.”
Miss Moonstone, I don't think he likes you very much. Maybe we should have let you cast on him. Something small. Did I hear you can turn things blue? Look at me not kicking his ass, Bastian Firepool
He didn’t notice the hair change. But Atlas did, choking down a laugh as he coughed into his hand. Torryn winked at me but managed to hide his own smirk.
“Can I call you Bash? I feel like we're on that level now, right?”
How to keep your friendly wolf from shedding, Part One.
So naturally, I swooped low, laying my back dramatically on top of the table, my hand on my forehead as I sighed. “I guess I'll just have to lie here forever, contemplating the reason for my existence.” “That's pretty dramatic. Even for you, Wraith,” Torryn said. I bolted upright, staring at him with my jaw open. “You're supposed to be the nice one.” He flashed a smile, content to break the tension in the room with me. “I've always been a rule follower. It might be time for a change.” “Oh, shit. What will that make me then?” Atlas asked, moving toward the door. “Still annoying,” I answered.
“Oh, shit. What will that make me then?” Atlas asked, moving toward the door. “Still annoying,” I answered.
“Oh, Scoop, stop being a dick,” Nym said. “That's your witch.” I snorted. “I wish.” “You are still his, and he is yours. I won’t argue with you about that. Your souls are connected, and that’s that.”
You have the patience of a saint to give me all the time and space I needed to really see you. To recognize that my heart has and always will need you. And if you think for one second your death took any of that away from us, you’re sadly mistaken. If anything, it deepened every single thing that was ever between us. These memories have haunted me, lifted me, and crushed me over and over. I love you. I’ve loved you since I was a child. It was never nothing. You are everything.”
“This negativity isn't going to get you anywhere. If you cast that out into the world, that’s what you’ll get back. If you need hard love, I'll deliver it on a silver platter. I will not let you spiral into the sad existence that consumes the other wraiths. You are Kirsi Moondance. You were a powerful witch, spirit blessed long before your death. I refuse to believe there is nothing in this world that can bring you happiness. Tie the fucking knot, Kir.”
I covered my face with my hands. “I need you to be an asshole, okay? I just can't deal with the mushy shit right now.” He shifted back into Grey. “We were friends first,” he smirked, that single dimple flashing on his cheek. “I'll be the asshole to your smartass every day. Now, get up. We have a witch to save.”
“The Dark King is not dead,” she whispered to herself. I huffed a laugh. “He's still an asshole, though, don't worry.”
All because a grumpy king decided to befriend a smartass.
“Asshole,” she hissed in my ear before vanishing. “I'm officially haunting you for the rest of your life.” “Don't threaten me with a good time.”
Ms. Moonstone, What favors might a king tally for helping a stinky old captain bathe? Suffering silently, Bastian, more handsome than Grey, Firepool
“You all make me want to murder someone,”
The only safe place for you now is behind me. I hope you’ve learned your lesson.
“You are my only weakness,” he breathed into my ear. “My only equal. My only future. A year ago, I would have given my life to keep this world from burning. And now, I’d sooner light the world on fire and watch it burn than see you suffer its wrath. You’ve changed everything. I think I’ve fallen in love with you, Little Witch. In fact, I don’t think I’ll ever stop falling.”
“You die, I die.” He spoke the words like a promise. The Dark King’s vow to the world that had damned him so long ago. “I will wait for you at the gates to eternity. You live your life and you see this world patched back together.” He grabbed me, pulling me into his arms as he buried his face into the crook of my neck. “This world can fucking burn.”
“Every second of every minute for the rest of forever, and then five minutes more.”
“Taunting is Kirsi’s second language, Miss Moonstone. It is helpful.”
