Being touched by someone can feel meaningless until you’re touched by the right person.

I swing my eyes in her direction, surprised to find her watching Ambrose with an expression I can’t decipher.

Sadness? Jealousy?

There’s a loud scrape against the floor and my eyes fly open just as Ambrose grips Dean by the collar of his shirt, holding him away from me.
