“Let me see you come, Claire.”
“Right ther—”
“Brace yourself,”
“Holy shit,”
“I can’t… Theo. W–wow.”
“That’s it,”
“I could watch you come every second of every day and never get sick of it.”
“You”—I stepped over to her and pulled her in close with my hands on her lithe waist—“are my weak side, Bryant. Do you hear me?” She swallowed shyly and stared up at me. “I don’t know what that means.” I smirked as I reached over and turned the water off. “It means you’re mine.”
We were more wrapped up in each other behind our door than in front of it, but not because he didn’t want to keep up with the charade in front of campus, but mainly because he wanted me all for himself—his words, not mine.
Theo’s father boomed with excitement. “It’s a pretty big deal, huh?” “Huge!”
“It’s sweet to see you so excited for him. We are too. We really just want him to be happy.” Me too. I smiled again. “He deserves to succeed. He works hard.”
“I didn’t think he’d ever get a girlfriend.”
“I was just waiting for the right girl.” “It only takes one,”
“Sweet talkers, both of ‘em,”
“He pretty much sealed the deal with a tryout offer and mentioned a spot at the team development camp.” “Son, that’s great news.”
“Did you truly think I could resist you after seeing you cheer for me during the game?”
“Oh, stop it. You’re too tired after games. Isn’t that what you used to tell the puck bunnies?”
“Do you know where my head kept going while I was talking to the one guy who I’ve loo...

“No,” she answered hesitantly. “You.”
“And how much I fucking loved seeing you in my jersey, and how effortless you looked talking to my parents, winning my mother over in a split second. And after every single play I made, I could hear you yelling my name.”
“Don’t be embarrassed. I want you at every single game from here on out.” “You do?”
“Yes.” I hoped my words conveyed exactly what I was feeling. “Every”—I flicked the button through its rightful hole—“single”—Claire inhaled sharply—“game.”
“This is all I’ve thought about,”
“What’s wrong?” “Nothing.” Claire’s chest was moving up and down, and I knew by the color creeping up her neck that she was turned on, but there was a sense of caution lingering.
“Tell me.”
“You know you can trust m...

“It’s just…” She looked down at her panties that were already sporting a wet spot. My tongue tingled, but I forced myself to wait. Doesn’t she know I am starving for her? “You’ve...

“What did he do to you that makes you think I don’t want this?”
“I’m beginning to know you very well, Claire. So, tell me. Now.”
“He just didn’t like to do this often. Not unless I had showered or…shaved.”
“So, you’re self-conscious? You’re afraid that I’m not going to like this?”
“Watch me,”
“God, Theo.” I hardly recognized her voice as I continued to lick, flick, and plunge my tongue inside her. Her taste was sweet, and I never wanted to go without it. “My parents are waiting,” I teased. “Gonna come on my mouth?”
“I’m nothing like him, so whatever he did or said to you, forget about it.”
“Oh my God. I forgot!” she admitted. “We gotta go meet them!”
She took a step back, and this time, instead of me pulling her, it was the opposite. And like the lovesick puppy that I was, I followed after her.
“I’m gonna kill him,” I whispered, trying to fight the smile that was creeping along my face. “Oh, please.” Taytum’s shoulder bumped into mine. “You love it.”
“They have a game in five hours. Shouldn’t they be, like, resting?”
Chad had lost me, and it wasn’t until mid-leap that I realized I might just lose Theo.
She was meant to have eyes on her. The way she danced with elegance and beauty was something that only someone who was as determined as Claire could possess. She was everything I craved and everything I wanted for my future. I was captivated, and by the silence in the row the hockey team and I sat in, I was pretty sure they were just as breathless as I was.
I continued to watch her trail across the stage, and I was pretty certain that I wanted this for her as much as she wanted it for herself.
I nodded and held on tighter to Claire, not even bothering to see if Chad was still lingering. I’d deal with him later. Right now, Claire was the priority, and I was quickly realizing that she was always going to be the priority.
“You think you can take it from here? You couldn’t even take care of her when she was yours.” “Was?”
“She hasn’t told you.” Chad threw his head back and laughed. “She’s still mine, Wolf. But it’s pretty typical of Claire not to tell you. She has a hard time relying on anyone but herself. Why do you think she was nearly killing herself onstage? She and her mother need the money so she doesn’t have to rely on me.” What?
“It’s important, but I’m beginning to realize it may not be the most important thing anymore.” Because after all, what was a future without her in it?
“None of that is true. I didn’t seek you out because of her. I have had my eye on you since your sophomore year because of sheer talent and your drive to succeed. You remind me a lot of myself at that age, and I’ll admit, if you had been late for any reason other than making sure my daughter was okay, I might have reamed you just as hard as your coach. But how can I be angry with someone who has a piece of my soul in their best interest?” My mouth opened, but I stopped myself so he could continue. “And I give you props for defending her, even to me, but you have it wrong. I didn’t abandon her.

“See?” Taytum whispered. “And don’t you dare tell me that you haven’t fallen for him. I hardly recognize you when you look at him—and that isn’t a bad thing.” I let out a soft breath and smiled down at him. I’d ruin the world for Theo Brooks, and it was about time I told him.
I wanted to say I love you, but I didn’t because it didn’t feel right after knowing what I knew and hiding it from her. So instead, I would show her. “You’re perfect,” I whispered, peeling her panties down her legs as she lifted up. We were skin on skin. Bare. Just the way I wanted it. “So are you.”
Her mouth fell to mine, and the kiss was soft and slow with meaning behind it that I couldn’t put into words. Neither one of us said anything else.
“The dorm with you sounds like a way better place to be.” Damn straight, baby.
