“It’s chicken and fries, not a Rolex.”
She said it like the word meant nothing to her. She didn’t know what we stood for, didn’t know how powerful we were. For most people, the mere word fostered fear, but not for her. I hoped it would stay that way, but I knew it couldn’t.
“Sometimes we have to let go of our family if we want to amount to anything in life.”
That knowledge was the last straw. I had to have her. Every little inch of her. Every goosebump. Every freckle. Every fucking shy smile. All for myself. And I had to protect her from all the wolves she believed were sheep.
“What do you want from me?” I whispered. “Everything.”
