I don’t give a fuck if I’m walking around this bitch looking like Calliou. I’m the baddest bald-headed bitch in every room I walk in,” Junie preached.
“And that’s on who?” she asked. “Rosa-stand your muthafuckin’ ground-Parks.” Junie threw the shot back.
“Aye, on some real shit, your energy pulled me over here. From the quizzical look in those beautiful green eyes, I can tell you feeling it too. I think we owe it to ourselves to see what the universe feels.” “Nigga, what in the Shakespeare are you talking about? Let them go and we can go tag team a few freaks,” Dai interjected.
Last night you were in love with me. Today you trying to tussle.”
“Every side is her bad side. As soon as I find another job, I’m going to smack the fuck out of her bad built body ass.
“Nigel, please.” Hunter rolled her neck. “Don’t be out here staking claim and I haven’t talked to you in seven days. Matter fact, where is your car? You’re getting the first boot.” “Get his ass, sis,” Dai laughed. It had been years since he heard his brother’s real name. Nite was always so serious, and it was good to see him actually smiling. Even if he didn’t know it, Dai noticed his brother’s eyes light up when Hunter was around. That alone made him like her even more. “Not Nigel,” Harvey laughed, equally tickled.
“Mommy has company,” he whispered. “Oh yea?” Nite tapped the chick sitting on his lap, signaling her to stand up. “Yep, and they watching Netflix. You want me to cut off the internet or change the Netflix password?” “Nah, I got one even better, unlock the back door.” “You coming over?” “Yep.” “Yes!” Axel cheered. “Bring me some hot Cheetos and a sprite!” “Aight, unlock the door and I’ll see you in a minute. I’m not too far away.”
“Oh my god. Eric, I’m so sorry about this.” Hunter followed behind him. “No she not, big dog,” Nite called after him. “She knew what the fuck she was doing, playing with your life like you got nine lives or some shit.”
“Did I snap on you and Ms. Lip Gloss?” “You jealous?” “Of who?” Hunter bucked her eyes. “A bitch with a stale weave could never make me jealous.” “Same shit I said, sis,” Dai agreed. “It don’t move.”
“You know relationships are work, whether it's friends or partners. Not everyone is willing to do the work. If she’s harboring some ill feelings and then started hanging with a bitch that obviously has a problem with you, she was never your friend. At the end of the day fuck her.” “Period,” Hunter agreed. Tiny and her funky attitude were the last thing on Hunter’s mind.
“Aye, do me a favor,” Nite said, inhaling a thick cloud of smoke. “You know I’d do anything for you. Name it and I’ll do it,” she cooed. “Lose my number.” He ended the call before Mika could get anything out. “Nigel!” Hunter laughed. “What? You wanted me to have small talk with the hoe?” “Not while my booty juices are on your top lip.”
“Hunter?” Eric called out. “Is everything ok?” “Um, can you please delete my number?” “Why the fuck you asking?” Nite grabbed the phone. “Aye, my man, I need you to delete this number. Hunter is no longer available for Netflix dates and stop buying her food. If she hungry, point her ass to the nearest soup kitchen.”
“Are you afraid of heights?” Hunter giggled as the ride inched up toward the night sky. “I ain’t ever been off the ground,” he frowned. “So what the fuck you think?”
“Baby, chill. Let me help you relax,” she purred, licking her lips. “Hunter, I swear to god if I die with my dick in your mouth, I’m going to reach up from hell and thump you in the forehead.” “Hell? What makes you think you’re going to hell?” “Because ain’t no heaven for a nigga like me.” “Nigel, I'm trying to suck your dick, don’t make me cry.”
“Aye, no need for all that. I just think we need to talk about a payment plan,” Rico reasoned, sending Dai into a laughing fit. “Nigga, we don’t owe you shit.” “You sure about that? Y’all quit and didn’t give me time to fill the spot.” “What the fuck you think this is? A 9-5? This is street shit. Ain’t no two-week notice, ” Dai laughed. “Your greedy, scheming ass better move the fuck around. Go get a candy apple, but be careful because them shits hard, and your front teeth are questionable.”
“When he said for if you forgive other people when the sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, I felt that in my soul.” Dai raised his hand to the sky. “Hello, say it again for me.” “I say if you forgive people for the sins that are made against you,” Dai preached, mimicking the pastor he’d just seen. “Uh huh,” Ms. Gladys shook her hands, hyping him up.
Once they were in the car, Nite turned to Dai, who was still humming church tunes unbothered that he almost had to put down an old lady. “What the fuck took you so long? I said take her to the store.” “And I did, but she asked me to take her to church, and it’s been a minute since I cleansed my soul.” Dai shrugged. “They started singing, and next thing I know, I’m at the altar asking the most high to forgive me for my sins.” “You feel lighter?” “I do.” Dai nodded, removing a blunt from his pocket. While Nite was surprised that he didn’t pull out a pill, a blunt right after church was just
