“Aye, move around with that shit. Beat this nigga on your own time.” Nite dismissed her with a flick of the wrist. He was higher than the stars and didn’t need her blowing his buzz. She started to protest, but Harvey gave her a light nudge.
“Come on, my ass. Y’all get out of here and take Woody Allen with y’all.”
“I don’t wanna stay here,” Axel pouted. The tears in his big brown eyes pulled at her heartstrings, but calling off wasn’t an option. DTE, Consumer Energy, and their landlord didn’t care about her son's tears. If she didn’t go to work, they would be sitting in a cardboard box crying together.
Snapping out of her thoughts, Hunter picked up her ringing phone. At first, she was going to ignore it, but when her best friend's name flashed across the screen, she answered. “Well damn, it’s about time,” Junie fussed.
“When that rash clears up.” “Rash? Tiny a fucking lie! She told you I had a rash? Her flat ass a lie!” “Hmm.”
Daivion, why are you standing there? I’m not going to let him whoop you again.” She stretched her arms out to Dai. He looked down at her wrinkled hands and unwillingly walked into her arms.
“You think I look like Prince?” Dai inquired, looking in the mirror.
“And that’s on who?” she asked. “Rosa-stand your muthafuckin’ ground-Parks.” Junie threw the shot back.
“Nigga, it’s 2021. These hoes will catfish you in a minute. You take Kelly Rolland home and wake up with Ving Rhames.”
“Bihhh, let’s go dance!” Junie grabbed Hunter's arm when Trina’s Pull Over started playing. Women started running to the middle of the yard as the original hot girl anthem coursed through the speakers.
“Oh, now I gotta leave because she woke up with dick on her breath and don’t know whose it is?”
“And you told me to get my dick beaters off you, so I did.
from the harshness of the streets. Rico called himself taking them under his wing, but in reality, he was exploiting their talents.
It didn’t take long for Nite and Dai to see the difference between Rico and Howard. While Rico only gave them enough to keep them coming back, Howard equipped them with the tools necessary to make it on their own. Knowing the difference, the twins decided to keep both worlds separate.
“Will do.” Harvey chuckled, knowing he couldn’t do anything with his mother. Jean would likely get drunk and transform into Eartha Kit.
The man was a walking orgasm and a red flag.
“Ok. Let me get in here. This shift is going to be a breeze now,” she sang, strolling up the sidewalk. Nite turned to his brother and shook his head. “What?” Dai chortled. “I can’t believe you got the caregiver high.” “Aye, it was either that or bend her over in the back of your car. She wearing her good bra and I have mommy issues.” “You’re fucking sick.” Nite shook his head. “Blame mommy dearest in there,” Dai replied, hopping in the passenger seat.
“Um, eww. So you just out here being a floozy?”
“No the fuck she not, and those fucking booty pads got her around here looking like a water beetle.”
That small talk bullshit leaves room for persuasion.
“It’s hard to sleep when you keep reliving the worse day of your life,” Dai admitted.
“Move in silence. The fuck you look like telling another man your every move,” Sir preached. “Always let a muthafucka think they have one up on you. In time everything presents itself. A wolf can only wear sheep clothing for so long.”
Nite didn’t feel bad about dismissing her because he didn’t invite her.
“Aye, if you gone be anything, be consistent.”
“It was everything. The way he kissed me, touched me, ate my pussy from the window to the wall.” “The window to the wall? Like Lil John and them?”
“As you should be. It’s been a week and I haven’t talked to him. I feel like a crackhead.”
“Damn, you that mad that you’re wishing for my downfall? The woman who is out here taking care of your son. You wanna see me fail that bad?”
She had also been a victim of sweet talks and good stroke game.
had only been a month and a couple of weeks, but his soul felt familiar, so without hesitation, she nodded.
They barely paid her enough to wipe asses, and being a referee for a senior citizen fight club was above her pay grade.
“Nope.” Dai shook his head. “I’m not dealing with this shit. Not only do we have birthday parties for a dead nigga, but she about to fight over his ghost.”
Beer would have them belching and snacking on everything until they passed out with the can in their hand, but gin… it was the devil's juice and gin made them sin.
her. Other workers looked on, not wanting to interfere and get caught in the crossfire of the haymakers that Hunter was throwing.
“Now you have a reason not to like me, hoe.”
“What shit, Nite? You are gonna have to use your words because I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”
“That’s how it works though, Nigel. We’re supposed to talk it out, and you’re supposed to trust me enough to handle your heart with care.”
apple, but be careful because them shits hard, and your front teeth are questionable.”
nigga. He took it out of context.” “Nah, he took it the way it was presented to him. Thanks
“You can’t be out here running up on niggas while leaving your queen unprotected.”
“Come on now, you know I'm wherever you are.” Nite winked
“He said a lot of shit because that's what fuck niggas do. All talk and no action, common fuck boy behavior,” Junie spat. “Welcome to the real world. Aaron, you have two seconds to get the fuck outta my house.”
“As long as she comes back and gives me sloppy toppy,
she can get the priest drunk,” Dai shrugged. Nite shook his head and looked down at his phone.
Rina's jaws and she can suck a golf ball through a straw.”
“There is no blueprint for this love shit, for this life shit. I’m learning, and I’m willing to admit I fucked up.”
“You did, and I told you the last time was the last time. I can’t keep forgiving disrespect.”
What was understood didn’t need to be explained.
