The Lethal Weapon movies made him want to be a cop because it seemed incredibly exciting. He used to have a clear picture of what his cop career would be. He would show up to work, get in the car, get into a car chase, shoot down the bad guys (whose cars would explode), leap from his car onto another, kill the bad guy with the diplomatic immunity, then have a hilarious snarky conversation with his partner before being called to disarm a bomb with a big red LED timer with only ten minutes remaining. He was glad some of these modern cop shows, like The Wire and Bosch, were a bit more realistic.
