Now let’s use a metaphor. A farmer in Jesus’ day would naturally be anxious in the long wait before the harvest because he had “buried” resources and energy into this field. He could lose all of it. Suppose he received a rock-solid prediction that the coming harvest would be abundant. He would naturally experience far less anxiety in the interim, but only if he believed this news.
