Birds of a feather flock together,
One thing sharks had taught her—don’t waste unnecessary energy.
Missy sighed. “She’s picked a godawful subject for her dissertation. She’s trying to crack the language of the sperm whale.”
Still, there was nothing like a little breast exposure to solidify one’s standing with the male species. She and Missy had often joked: When in doubt, whip the boob out.
For as many times as Alec had been in the water with great whites, he’d never filmed a freedive. And despite the terror of watching Grace approach a white head-on, it was a breathtaking display of elegance and curiosity between humans and sharks. Grace Mann was quite possibly the bravest person he’d ever known.
Grace could use scuba equipment, and she would certainly do that if needed, but there was one other option. Unfortunately, it meant inviting a cute grad student into the water who also seemed to have her eye on Alec.
In the end, the sharks were more important than getting cozy with Alec Galloway. They always had been.
“I guess what I’m trying to say is that she’s got white shark in her blood. She’ll never be able to separate herself from it. And I can tell that it bothers you.”
“Jesus, you’re so damned stressed. Get laid and get it over with, but for God’s sake don’t detach your junk after.”
Mary Ann rested while continuing to swim, her ability to breathe dependent on constant and lifelong movement.
