I don’t think love at first sight exists, but I believe in annoyed at first sight, and Colton is exactly that. He’s obnoxious and self-centered, and I’ll gladly keep my distance. He’s bad news.
“Um…are you going to sleep on the beanbag chair?” “Do I have another option? There’s only one bed.” I blink and then burst out giggling. Drake looks at me in confusion. “It’s like the book tropes, you know. Enemies to lovers, when they stay in one room, and there’s only one bed, and they need to share it.” I thread my fingers through my hair as my laugh dies in my throat. Why did I mention that? “I’m sorry, that was unnecessary.”
“Hey. Those are mine!” I shriek. He meets my eyes, a stupid smirk on his lips. “Not anymore.” With that, he goes back to his friends. What the actual fuck?
“If you meet a girl you like, one who causes your heartbeat to speed up, who is constantly on your mind, day and night; one who stirs such strong emotions within you that it is hard to control yourself. If you meet a girl like that, promise me you will bring her here and introduce her to me.”
“Part of your gang? Who are you? Jax Teller?” Rodgers stops in his tracks and gapes at me with a ridiculously funny look on his face. “You know who Jax Teller is?” “Um, yeah? Sons of Anarchy is my dad’s favorite TV show.” I lift my shoulder, furrowing my brows. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
I turn off my music, take out my AirPods, and put them back into their case, scanning the coffee shop with my eyes.

The scent of coffee and cinnamon becomes stronger, Taylor Swift’s “Midnight Rain” plays in the background, and warmth spreads through my veins.
