“If I wear this dress, everyone will look at me.” My skin crawled at the thought. She lifted one shoulder in a shrug. “So let them look. Make their view worth it.”
“Why do you want my copy of Pride and Prejudice?” she answered as soon as I called her back. “I want to read it.” She snorted. “Why?” “I’m curious about it.” I pictured Hannah’s eyes lighting up, talking about it. There must be something good in that book.
“I was jealous, okay? I’m jealous because he looks at you like he wants to fuck you.” His jaw ticked.
“I’ve never been jealous in my life. And then one of my good friends made plans with you and it pissed me off.” His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed and he pressed his mouth into a line. “I’m sorry. It wasn’t cool.”
With me, it would be better. Hotter. I’d make her writhe under me. I’d go down on her until she pulled my hair and gasped my name and couldn’t handle how good it felt. I was desperate to see how she looked while she came, all hazy and flustered and breathless.
“Even if he does buy you dinner, you don’t owe him anything. You don’t have to sleep with him or even kiss him. The third date rule is bullshit. You can sleep with him on the first date or the tenth date or never, if that’s what you want.” We locked eyes. “You’re the boss. Understand?”
“Jesus fucking Christ, bookworm, where’d you learn to kiss like this,” Wyatt groaned against my mouth in between kisses. “I thought about you all fucking night. All day. I was going insane, thinking about his hands on you.” His arm that had been around my back, holding me up, slipped lower until he was grasping my ass. My breath hitched again.
“Don’t practice with Beck.” His voice was low, barely above a whisper. His gaze locked on mine. “You want to practice? You practice with me.”
“Fine,” I told her. “You want to come? I’ll make you come so hard you see stars, bookworm.”
“Good. Don’t let anyone fucking touch you between your legs until you’re soaking wet. Do you understand?”
“You’re going to watch while I make you come. Understand?” She nodded and bit her bottom lip. “Good. Good girl.”
“You’re a fucking goddess, you know that?” My voice was rough and demanding. Her eyes widened a fraction at my words, watching me with parted lips like she was in a dream. I stilled my fingers. “Answer me.”
“I’m not going to tell you again, Hannah. Keep your eyes open while I fuck you with my fingers.”
“You’re so good at this,” I told her. “Look at you, doing so well. You’re going to come.”
She moaned again and her hands clenched the sleeping bag. “I want to touch you.” “No. Not right now. I’m busy. Right now, we’re making you come.” I added pressure with my thumb on her clit and she moaned again. I slipped my hand out from under her ass and set it palm-up on her stomach. “Hold my hand, baby. Hold on to me while you come.”
“It’s too intense.” Her voice teetered on the edge, frantic and desperate. She writhed against me. “I can’t.” “Yes, you can.” She was soaking my fingers and my thumb swirled faster. “You’re going to come harder than ever. Do you hear me?”
“You did so good.” I kissed the inside of her thigh. “So fucking good.”
“Mhm.” Another soft kiss on my skin. “Why not?” My heart thumped against the front wall of my chest. His voice was low in my ear. “Because I liked the idea of it.” My brain skidded like it was slipping on ice. “But you…” I wasn’t sure how to word it. “Yeah, I know.” His teeth scored my skin and I sucked a breath in. “Just wanted you to know that.”
“It’s okay if you can’t.” Wyatt licked me from my entrance to the top of my clit and I let another breathy moan slip out at the electricity that shot through me. “This is for you, and whether you come or not isn’t important. Watching you react like this is making me fucking hard.” He did that licking thing again before adding suction to my clit and I whimpered. “We can do
this for as long as you like.” His teeth lightly scored my clit and my eyes widened as I bowed off the bed.
“I’m falling for you, bookworm.” He whispered the words against the back of my head in the dark.
“Miri, please stop interrogating my girlfriend.” Wyatt towered over the table with two new salt-rimmed drinks and a smirk. Girlfriend? My stomach rolled forward.
“I take care of what’s mine.”
“Look at you, doing so well.” His gaze was full of pride, satisfaction, and need. “You know that if you let me do my work, you’re going to come. Isn’t that right?”
“This is for being brave tonight and going up on stage. Do you know how fucking proud you made me up there, baby?”
“Wyatt, when you love someone like I loved Rebecca, it’s terrifying, because it’s like suddenly your heart is outside your body and you can’t protect it. My heart floated beside me in a red balloon and every time it floated too high, every time I got too happy or felt joy with her, I pulled it back down to safety so it wouldn’t pop.”
I should have told her that I loved her. That I wanted her forever. That she never needed to change a single thing about herself to make anyone proud or to find true love because she was perfect as she was. She always had been.
“I’m coming with you if the offer still stands. Wherever you go, I want to be there too, because I love you. And I’m in love with you. I lied when I said you were my practice guy.” Her face crumpled. “That was a terrible, terrible lie, and I said it because I wanted to make it sound like you didn’t mean anything but you do.” Her gaze lifted to me, pained and full of affection. “You mean everything to me. I want to be brave with you.”
“You mean everything to me, bookworm.”
“I said I knew everything was temporary, and I used that to keep myself back from all the good things. You said everything you knew was wrong? Well, me too, bookworm.”
“I love you. I should have said it instead of ‘come with me.’ I love you and I want you forever.”
“Professor?” “Yeah, bookworm?” “Kiss me.”
