The remaining Jewish people were dressed in fashionable clothing and, under the constant eye of the SS, spent weeks practising their parts, whether that be watching children play in the park or ‘shopping’ in the town’s centre. Finally, the day of the visit arrived, and over eight hours, the Red Cross were shown the Nazi-built fantasy.
