If you have a serious problem and there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it, then obviously you are better off if you don’t know about it. But if an employee was systematically stealing from you, wouldn’t you rather know about it? Alcohol has been systematically stealing your money, your health, your courage and your confidence ever since you fell into the trap. If there were nothing you could do about it, of course you would be better off in ignorance.
