It has been more than 40 years since a Negro has appeared on the national horizon of racial leadership with a program for his people as controversial and as clear-cut as that of Elijah Muhammad. Not since the days of Marcus Garvey,
His movement is based solidly on awakening the great masses of America’s 20 million Negroes to the truth of their racial heritage and destiny.
Today, Muhammad says God’s goal is to give “all my people holy names to replace those given them by the slave-master (whites) while they were in physical and mental bondage in America.”
Muhammad is exposing Negroes for the first time to a brutal appraisal of their actual standing in the American community
He stirs up the masses of Negroes in a way no one since the heyday of Marcus Garvey has done in telling them to stand up and be men!
He teaches race solidarity and unity. He preaches that the Number One motto of black people everywhere must be “all for one and one for all”
Muhammad introduced his beneficial Temples of Islam. His bold demands that black folk “throw off the shackles of the white man’s Christianity and return to Islam, the religion of our ancestors,”
God is in person, and stop looking for a dead Jesus for help, but pray to Him whom Jesus prophesied would come after Him. He who is alive and not a spook.
Know that God is a man and not a spook!
Master W.F. Muhammad is that Son of Man whom the world has been expecting to come for 2,000 years, seeking to save that which was lost.
It is knowledge of self that the so-called Negroes lack which keeps them from enjoying freedom, justice and equality.
Being without the knowledge, we disgrace ourselves, subjecting ourselves to suffering and shame.
After nearly a hundred years of freedom, we are still representing ourselves by the names our slave-masters called us!
Ownership of producing land is a prime and necessary part of freedom.
First, my people must be taught the knowledge of self. Then and only then will they be able to understand others and that which surrounds them.
We should acquire an education where our people will become better students than their teachers. Get an education which will make our people produce jobs for self
I want an education for my people that will elevate them. Why should we always be lying at the gate begging for bread, shelter, clothing and jobs if we are free and educated?
You must remember that slave-names will keep you a slave in the eyes of the civilized world today.
restoring to you your identity is one of the first and most important truths to be established by God, Himself.
We must not let our children be as are we, beggars of another man for his home, facilities, clothing, food and the means of providing a living.
A prime requisite for freedom and independence is having one’s own land. There can be no freedom without a people having their own land.
As a people, we must become producers and not remain consumers and employees.
