I’m not a big fan of shaking hands. I find people only want to shake your hand when they can see you’re not interested. A friend suggested I perfect the dog paw shake for those who insist. I extend my hand like a paw and let it hang loose. Oftentimes, they jerk their hand away and give me an odd stare, which makes me want to laugh every time.
“When did you get so direct?” she asked. “Less confusion with direct. Lets people know exactly where you stand and how much you’re willing to put up with.”
I walked across the patio area and came to an abrupt stop. An exceedingly good-looking man appeared to be asleep in one of the chaise lounges. “Excuse me!” I called. Wow, he’s good looking. He opened his eyes and slowly looked me up and down. They were a deep indigo color, and he had jet-black hair. “Who are you?” I asked, though honestly, I didn’t care. I just wanted to keep him.
Walk on the beach, collect seashells, and open your heart to all that is new. You deserve lots of happiness. I love you, Madison. Enjoy every day. Live with no regrets.
Once I started towards him, I wasn’t sure anyone could’ve stopped me. Common sense and restraint had vanished. But throwing water on Zach hadn’t been as satisfying as I’d hoped. It was inevitable that he’d meet my other personality: “crazy.” But this was definitely too soon.
He definitely likes you. When you poured the water on him, he was impressed. He likes a little crazy in his women. He’s pretty sure you like him.”
I wanted off the phone so I could bury my head in the sand.
He talked like a man with nothing to lose who was willing to do anything to get what he wanted. He seemed to be looking for any excuse to kill someone, preferably me.
“Thought you might need this,” Zach said as he walked in the door. He handed over the cane he’d used after being shot in the leg, then put his arms around me and peeked inside the neckline of my dress. “This is one of those dresses I like,” he whispered in my ear. “You have no hospital manners.”
