I did a ton of research for this book, and these stages are generally agreed on by people who study such things. Everything in Come Closer is "accurate" according to various religious and anthropological views on possession, which are frighteningly consistent. Whatever you think Amanda is going through, it appears to be a rare but fairly universal phenomena that follows a specific pattern across cultures and beliefs.
