Some of you may be so successful at avoiding everything that might lead to a ritual that your daily log is almost empty. This kind of avoidance is referred to as passive avoidance, because you are not engaging in a ritual to neutralize an obsessive fear. The term passive doesn’t communicate how truly destructive this kind of avoidance is. Your passive avoidance is a reflection of how much of your life has been sacrificed to OCD.
