Just as Christ has the right to rule, though He has not yet taken His throne as King, so believers have been made both a kingdom and a priesthood (cf. Rev. 5:10). As akingdom, we are under Christ’s sovereign rule (Col. 1:13), and as a priesthood we have the privilege of direct access to God (1 Pet. 2:9). The only proper response to such a glorious reality is to offer a doxology of praise to God, as John does at the end of verse 6, sealing it with “Amen” (“So be it”). 1:7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth
