Mindfulness is sometimes seen as a form of “meta-awareness,” which means awareness of awareness. Instead of simply feeling anger, I am aware that I am now feeling anger. Rather than just feeling the blister on my heel, I am aware that I now feel the blister on my heel. Not only am I thinking about what I’m going to say at the meeting tomorrow, I am aware that I’m now thinking about what I’m going to say tomorrow.
