Are you identifying with your child, so that you feel his or her subpar behavior reflects poorly on you? When your daughter is fidgeting and can’t sit still in a restaurant, is the problem really the fidgeting, or other people’s judgments that you must be a bad parent because your child isn’t well behaved?
