Until the cat is coming to you and letting you know it is okay to engage it, you have to stand fast and hold your ground. No matter what the cat does, or how it tests you, you need to be indifferent. You need to let it not meeting your expectations roll off of you, as though it does not bother you, or that you could care less one way or another what it does.
