The Books of Enoch

This being the case, it should not surprise us that Enoch was declared a fake and was rejected by Hilary, Jerome, and Augustine. Enoch was subsequently lost to Western Christendom for over 1,000 years. However, some view the Book of Enoch as prophetic, not only as a timeline, but being a picture into what is coming to all those who believe and are obedient to God. "By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God" (Hebrews 11:5). Enoch experienced "rapture" in his time before the judgment of the Flood. What Enoch experienced is what some modern Christians believe is waiting for the church. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 promises that Jesus will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet of God, and the church will be taken up, or “raptured,”,” to meet Him in the air.
