Another more controversial theory has Enoch predating the Genesis story. Like the Book of Enoch, Genesis seems to have several authors with stories intertwined. One of these authors is known simply as “P,” owing to the fact he was thought to be a priest. If we compare the “P” contribution of Genesis to the Book of Enoch, parallels leap out.
