“Leave him?” “Yes, leave him. Especially if he tells you that you cannot be together.” Lexa frowned. “Then what do I do?” “You live,” she said. “You live as if he’d told you yes.”
“My truth is not everyone’s truth,”
“If this is how I suffocate, I would gladly drown in your heat.”
“You don’t have to lie to not tell the truth,”
He could see it in her face and feel it in her energy, but mostly, he knew because of the things she’d said when she’d dissolved into tears in his arms. As he held her, he was acutely aware of how he had not managed to chase away her grief, how he’d left her vulnerable, how he had failed her.
