“Please don’t let anybody hurt me,” he repeated to the patrolmen. “I’m sorry I caused you guys all this trouble.” Between radio calls, Officer Cullen advised Chapman of his right to remain silent and to contact a lawyer. The driver, the officer who had arrested Chapman, began rocking his body excitedly forward and backward, pounding the steering wheel of the police car with his fists. “I told you I felt it,” he said to his partner. “I told you that something big was going to happen tonight.
