School was a haven for me. I was thrilled to be away from Mother.
Some of the other kids told me how they wished their mothers would be like mine. I never responded, but I wondered to myself what they would think if they knew the real truth.
At that moment I hated Mother to no end, but I hated Father even more. The man who had helped me in the past, just stood like a statue while his son ate something even a dog wouldn’t touch.
I also hated Father. He was fully aware of the hell I lived in, but he lacked the courage to rescue me as he had promised so many times in the past.
I believe it is important for people to know that no matter what lies in their past, they can overcome the dark side and press on to a brighter world.
