Honestly, Gideon Cross had been designed to fuck a woman right out of her mind.
“What the hell was I supposed to do, Eva? I didn’t know you existed.” Gideon’s voice deepened, roughened. “If I’d known you were out there, I would’ve hunted you down. I wouldn’t have waited a second to find you. But I didn’t know, and I settled for less. So did you. We both wasted ourselves on the wrong people.”
“I ache for you,” he said hoarsely. “Crave you constantly. Snap your fingers and I’m hard.” He traced my lower lip with his tongue, inhaling my panting breaths. “When I come, I come for you. Because of you and your mouth, hands, and insatiable little cunt. And it’ll be that way for you in reverse. My tongue, my fingers, my cum inside you. Just you and me, Eva. Intimate and raw.”
“You were with me. The whole time. There wasn’t a second that passed when you weren’t on my mind. You own me, Eva. Wherever I am, whatever I’m doing, I belong to you.”
“You’ve got a rep, you know.” “But you’re the one wearing my ring.” As he lifted his head, his fingertips brushed the hair from my temple. “Day One of my life was the day I met you.”
“I’m a decent cook, but you just want me for my body.” He smiled. “It’s the very delicious package holding everything else I want.” “I’ll show you mine, if you show me yours.”
“Angel, a crowd of millions couldn’t hide you from me. I found you once. I’ll always find you.”
“Where are you?” “At work.” “Multitasking, I’m sure.” I stepped on the gas and prayed as I cut across lanes. “What’s a little calming distraction for your girlfriend in the midst of world entertainment domination?”
“You’ll never lose me, angel,” he vowed. “Wherever you go, however far, I’ll be right here with you.”
“Only you,” he agreed. His thumb brushed feather light over my nipple. “Forever and always.”
“I look at you, angel, and I want you so badly. I want to be with you, listen to you, talk to you. I want to hear you laugh and hold you when you cry. I want to sit next to you, breathe the same air, share the same life. I want to wake up to you like this every day forever. I want you.”
His chest expanded on a deep breath. “Crossfire.” My hands stilled on him. He swallowed, his throat working. “It’s your word for when things get to be too much, when it’s too intense. It’s my word, too, because that’s how you make me feel. All the time.” “Gideon, I . . .” He’d made me speechless.
“I know it’s not fair to ask you to be with me”—his head tilted back—“when we can’t even sleep in the same bed, but I’ll love you better than anyone else could. I’ll take care of you and make you happy. I know I can.”
“As long as Kline doesn’t kiss you.” The warning was clear in his voice. “Same goes.” “If he kisses me, he’s getting decked.”
