Seven was a magic number and a good ward against witches.

“Well, there’s the law and then there’s justice. They ain’t always the same thing.”

He had heard of such places, where sadness had leeched into the soil and evil had sprouted from it.

“You’ll know him by his yellow eyes,”

“The magic is in us and all around us, and if you ask the right question it will always provide an answer.”
