It has been a creative and inspiring journey to create my second cookbook and I can't believe after all the recipe-testing, photography, and editing, that's nearly here! I am so excited to share this book with my readers. It wrote it to inspire you to have a party just for two!(less)

What inspires me might put others to sleep, but inspiration is about the spark that kicks off a new idea or a new way of thinking about something. And it is the result of that mental chain of events that is so exciting and why you have to be ready and willing for inspiration to come from anywhere, and places you might least expect.

I find inspiration in many places, but it typically starts with my own home, actually. I have made my apartment my own little jewel box. I have created my own space so that it enhances my inspiration—I can look around and in any nook discover something that might spark my creativity, whether it is one of my favorite books or a memento from my first trip to Paris. I keep those things that have inspired me before around in a very natural and comforting way that allows me to continue to experience them.

I also get inspiration from experiences and adventures I make for myself. I believe that setting the stage is all you can do to then allow inspiration to find you. Sometimes that comes by simply going to my weekly farmer's market, and sometimes it is a grand experience like a road trip or visiting Europe.

In fact, inspiration for me is not usually the hard part, or at all lacking. It is the verb in that question where I must work hard: To write. Writing is the culmination of that spark of interest that ricochets around my brain for a while, colliding with other ideas, until at last something is ready to emerge. Writing is the act of having your idea break free from its cocoon and spreading its wings.

For me it is often easier to describe than it is to do. My brain and hands do not always tango well together and getting the vibrant color and expressive sensations out of my head and on to paper is not always easy. But, if I hit a patch of writer's block I can re-ignite the creative process with more inspiration and sometimes it is that process of iteration that leads to great results that make me really happy, and have the effect of continuing the cycle of getting inspired and writing about it.
