My copy of this delightfully erudite 'cat history' is from Dorset, 1989. It comes with satiric drawings by Grandville. First published in 1920, it covers the cat in folklore, art, fiction, music -- you name it. One reviewer wrote: "This, certainly, is a cat bible." (I am without cat).
