Alina I have been suggested to read this book and I am absolutely in love with it.
It took me awhile to get into the book, but once I did, I couldn't get my head out of the book. Even though naming characters the same names may appear confusing and annoying for the readers, it is a quite clever and simplistic way to showcase that characters that are named the same way tend to share same traits. Similarly Marquez's written style- referring to past and future while describing a presence, magic, supernatural activities may question your sanity and question reality, but at the same time what makes this book so great.

I am still in the process of processing all motives, symbols and themes highlighted in the novel. So, I will update my comment once I have it all figured out. But, if someone got symbolism of golden fish, please do share your view bellow.

To sum up, this book is amazing! It questions reality, how our choice of solitude can affect our life path, it makes you wonder if our life already pre-subscribed by other past relatives - can we make a difference or our life has been written for us in advance, once we born in the family lineage we are doomed to live in the same pattern as our ancestors despite changes in time....
I think this book needs to be read at different periods of your life as by doing so you may discover something new for yourself. I will definitely be re-reading this book. Love, love love!
